Utah’s Big Five National Parks
Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Zion National Park are collectively called Utah’s Big Five National Parks. Arches National Park is known for its more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including Delicate Arch. Bryce Canyon National Park features natural amphitheaters with red rock “hoodoos”. Capitol Reef National Park has layers of golden sandstone, canyons and striking rock formations. Canyonlands National Park preserves a colorful landscape eroded into numerous canyons, mesas, and buttes. Zion National Park includes mountains, canyons, buttes, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches. HW12 between Bryce Canyon National Park and Capitol Reef National Park that goes through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument has unique arches, riparian oases, sculpted slickrock that look otherworldly. Moab is claimed to be the outdoor activity center of the west. You can use Moab as the starting point to explore nearby Arches National Park.
