Italy with Sicily
Italy is a fantastic destination. I would be able to cover everything but some highlights.
Rome and Vatican City
Rome is the capital city of Italy. Rome is often referred to as the “Eternal City”. Rome is generally considered to be the cradle of Western civilization and Western Christian culture, and the centre of the Catholic Church. Major sights are Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Roman Forum, Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Galleria Borghese
Vatican City, a city-state surrounded by Rome, Italy, is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It’s home to the Pope and a trove of iconic art and architecture. Its Vatican Museums house ancient Roman sculptures such as the famed “Laocoön and His Sons” as well as Renaissance frescoes in the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel, famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling. while visit Vatican, make sure visit both the Vatican Museum for Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel and the main Chapel for Michelangelo’s The Madonna della Pietà.

Palermo, Sicily
Sicily, the largest Mediterranean island, is just off the “toe” of Italy’s “boot.” Its rich history is reflected in sites like the Valley of the Temples, the well-preserved ruins of 7 monumental, Doric-style Greek temples, and in the Byzantine mosaics at the Cappella Palatina, a former royal chapel in capital city Palermo. On Sicily’s eastern edge is Mount Etna, one of Europe’s highest active volcanoes. Piazza Armerina is the most exceptional mosaics in the Villa Romana del Casale. Many significant figures were born in Sicily including Archimedes (c. 287 – 212 BC) which theory about floating force of water was taught in middle schools at the beginner physics classes worldwide. Archimedes was born in Syracuse, Sicily so was Monimus of Syracuse in the 4th century BC. Monimus of Syracuse was an ancient Greek philosopher who practiced Cynicism. He is the godfather of philosophy. Noto and Ragusa have the best Baroque buildings you can find anywhere in the world.
I have not visited Sicily much. That will be another trip by itself. I just happened to be in Palermo, Sicily for one day. Palermo is the capital of the Italian island of Sicily. The 12th-century Palermo Cathedral houses royal tombs, while the huge neoclassical Teatro Massimo is known for opera performances. Also in the center are the Palazzo dei Normanni, a royal palace started in the 9th century, and the Cappella Palatina, with Byzantine mosaics. Busy markets include the central Ballarò street market and the Vucciria, near the port.
