Hawaii

There are four major islands in Hawaii plus a few smaller ones.

Oahu is home to Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii. Oahu is also known for its world-famous surfing. A around island tour takes visitor to see the North Shore. Hiking to the Diamond Head State Monument warrantees you a panoramic view of Honolulu. Polynesian Cultural Center is fun although very commercialized. If you are a history buff, you can visit Pearl Harbor USS Arizona Memorial. A Luan dancer is a must-do in Hawaii. Waikiki Beach is very commercialized. There is no sense of a beach other than shopping malls. Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve used to be good, but nowadays it is not worth doing due to pollution and over-crowding. You can be to per-reserve a entrance ticket. On the around island tour, you can visit the Halona Blowhole, the Dole Plantation, and so much more. Oahu is my less-favored island due to over-tourism.

Maui is known for its quaint towns, waterfalls, and beaches. It is sometimes called “Garden Island”. A helicopter tour can fly you over to some waterfalls not accessible by road. Whale watching, snorkeling with turtles, and ATV are good. A popular thing to do is to drive the Hana road. At the island highest peak, Haleakala, the Sunrise is Spectacular. Lahaina has some very good shopping.

Kauai is known for its Na Pali Coast. It is the smallest and also the most serene island of the four. A boat ride and flight over to Na Pali Coast give one the best views. A visit to Waimea Canyon, called by Mark Twain the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” will immerse you in the natural splendor of the canyon.

The Big Island is the largest and youngest island in Hawaii. It’s known for its active and dormant volcanoes, including Kilauea and Mauna Loa. IMO, the Big Island has the most interesting activities. A very fun thing to do is the Night Snorkel with Manta Ray after Sunset. Kona is the only place in the world you can do this. A tour around the Big Island showcases the historical sites and black beach. The Big Island is home to an observatory in at Mauna Kea Summit. You can pre-reserve a session for a lecture or a live observation of the Stars. You can visit the Volcano National Park on ground or, better yet, taking to the sky. The best time to do the flight over is right after a volcano eruption. You can see hot lava flowing into the Pacific ocean.
